Meet Dr. Regina English

Dr. Regina English, was born and raised in Battle Creek, Michigan, is a dedicated advocate, wife, mother of five, grandmother of 11, and founder of YES MAAM, a scholarship pageant system for African American youth. As the first Black woman to represent El Paso County in the Colorado General Assembly for House District 17, she champions educational equity, criminal justice reform, mental health awareness, and environmental sustainability. Her diverse accomplishments include founding the Be You-Be U nonprofit and serving as President of the Colorado Alliance of Black School Educators, while remaining deeply committed to empowering her community and fostering positive change.​

Education

I am committed to ensuring that every student, regardless of color or zip code, has access to a high-quality education in safe, well-funded schools equipped with the resources and programs necessary for their success and a brighter future.​

Criminal Justice Reform

I am committed to dismantling ineffective incarceration systems, advocating for humane treatment, dignity, and eliminating punitive practices that exploit labor or hinder meaningful connections with loved ones.​

Mental Health

I am committed to prioritizing mental health by advocating for comprehensive care access, addressing needs in the criminal justice system, and integrating resources in schools to ensure equitable support for all.​

04.

Reproductive Freedom

 I firmly believe in women’s fundamental right to bodily autonomy and reproductive freedom, and I am committed to advocating for policies that protect their right to make personal decisions without government interference.​
