Dr. English's Journey
Dr. Regina English, born and raised in Battle Creek, Michigan, is a dedicated advocate, entrepreneur, mentor, and community leader. She is a loving wife, mother of five, grandmother of eleven, and godmother of five. Her personal life is as vibrant as her professional one. Currently serving as Mrs. El Paso County 2025, she will compete for the title of Mrs. Colorado America 2027 next April.
In August 2013, Dr. English founded YES MAAM (My African American Miss LLC), a scholarship pageant system created to empower African American young women through leadership development, life skills training, community service, public speaking, interview preparation, pageant coaching, and personal growth opportunities.
Her commitment to youth development extends beyond pageantry. Dr. English is the owner of Your Favorite Fashionista, a clothing boutique that serves as a hands-on learning environment where young people participate in internships designed to teach merchandising, customer service, entrepreneurship, and the fundamentals of operating a successful business. She is also the founder of an inspirational speaking and life coaching business, where she empowers individuals to discover their purpose, overcome obstacles, and achieve personal and professional success.
Dr. English's commitment to inclusivity is evident in her establishment of the YESSIR Scholarship Pageant for young men and the Royal Pageant, both of which provide mentorship and leadership development opportunities for youth from diverse backgrounds. In 2016, she launched Be You-Be U, a nonprofit organization dedicated to encouraging self-improvement, confidence, educational achievement, and excellence among young people. As Founder and President, she champions educational equity, leadership development, and community empowerment, embodying her belief that every young person deserves the opportunity to thrive.
Dr. Regina's professional journey is marked by her dedication to advocating for Black students' voices and high-quality education. As the President of the Colorado Alliance of Black School Educators, she leads the fight for educational equity. Her academic achievements include an associate degree in Chemical Dependency/Drug and Alcohol Counseling, a bachelor’s in management, a master’s in public administration, and a Doctorate in Management specializing in Organizational Leadership. She is a respected member of several boards and committees focusing on social justice, Black maternal health, and behavioral and mental health. Her roles as the Entertainment Chair for the African American Youth Leadership Conference and Vice Chair of the RISE Southeast Coalition Board of Directors further demonstrate her commitment to community service and youth empowerment. An alumna of Leadership Pikes Peak WCLI and Emerge Colorado, Dr. Regina is also a board member of the Colorado Beautillion-Cotillion and the past Vice President of the Harrison School District Two Board of Education. She is a successful entrepreneur, Inspirational speaker, and Life Coach who inspires others to live unapologetically and intentionally. Dr. Regina is the first Black woman to represent El Paso County in the Colorado General Assembly for House District 17. She is part of the most prominent Black Legislative Democrat Caucus in Colorado's history.
Dr. Regina English has been a dedicated advocate during her tenure at the Colorado Legislature, focusing on enhancing constituents' overall quality of life through targeted policy initiatives. Central to her agenda has been empowering student and teacher voices, ensuring they remain at the forefront of educational reforms. Dr. English has also led significant legislative endeavors in criminal and juvenile justice reform, advocating for comprehensive changes that address systemic issues. As a staunch advocate for mental health awareness, she has championed policies to ensure dignity and respect in treatment practices. Furthermore, Dr. English's legislative priorities encompass critical areas such as housing policy, climate change mitigation, environmental stewardship, and reproductive rights, aiming to enact measures that uphold societal welfare and ecological sustainability. Her work exemplifies the power of advocacy and the potential for societal change. She enjoys family, basketball, shopping, and comedy in her spare time. A God-fearing woman and prayer warrior, her mottos are "Committed to Being Fabulous on Purpose" and "Stay Ready, So You Don't Have to Get Ready."
